Francis Collins, MD, PhD
National Institutes of Health

In his role as the 16th Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Dr. Collins oversees the work of the largest supporter of biomedical research in the world, spanning the spectrum from basic to clinical research. Dr. Collins is a physician-geneticist noted for his landmark discoveries of disease genes and his leadership of the international Human Genome Project.

Ted W. Love, MD
Global Blood Therapeutics

Dr. Love joined GBT in June 2014 as president and chief executive officer with broad leadership and management experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry. Before that, he was executive vice president, research and development and technical operations at Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he played an instrumental role in initiating and completing several of Onyx's first Phase 3 clinical trials.

Douglas R. Lowy, MD
National Cancer Institute

Dr. Lowy is the Acting Director of the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Chief of the Laboratory of Cellular Oncology within the Center for Cancer Research at NCI. For his joint research with John Schiller on technology that enabled the preventive HPV vaccines, he and Dr. Schiller have jointly received numerous honors, including the 2007 Federal Employee of the Year Service to America Medal from the Partnership for Public Service, the 2011 Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal Award, and the 2012 National Medal of Technology & Innovation (awarded in 2014).

Kenneth Mandl, MD, MPH
Boston Children's Hospital

Dr. Mandl directs the Computational Health Informatics Program (CHIP) at Boston Children's Hospital and is the Donald A.B. Lindberg Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School. His work at the intersection of population and individual health has had a unique, sustained influence on the developing field of biomedical informatics.

Eliseo Pérez-Stable, MD
National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities

As Director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) at NIH, Dr. Pérez-Stable oversees the Institute's $289 million budget to advance the science of minority health and health disparities by conducting and supporting research programs to advance knowledge and understanding of mechanisms to improve minority health, identifying and understanding health disparities and developing effective interventions to reduce these disparities in community and clinical settings.

Hannah Valantine, MD, MRCP, FACC
National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute

Dr. Valantine is the first NIH Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity, and a Senior Investigator in the Intramural Research Program at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. She is nationally recognized for her transformative approaches to diversity and is a recipient of the NIH Director's Pathfinder Award for Diversity in the Scientific Workforce.
