THIS CONFERENCE HAS ENDED.
Thank you for your interest in the Minority Health and Health Disparities Grantees' Conference.
The 2014 Student Poster Competition is a program designed and developed to foster and support the innovation, ingenuity, and intellectual integrity of future scientists dedicated to the improvement of minority health and the elimination of health disparities from a global perspective. Furthermore, the competition supports the future of education and the evolution of science and excellence in developing students to lead the charge of discovery and leadership.

The student competition will highlight excellence in student scholarship that encourages the development of sustainable, replicable, culturally appropriate research and community-based programs that will significantly contribute to the promotion and improvement of minority health and the elimination of health disparities.
The competition will be hosted over a three-day period during the scientific poster sessions. Competition winners will be selected through a vigorous judging scorecard and rubric that will be awarded during the closing session and awards ceremony.
The purpose of the Student Poster Competition is to recognize exceptional student research scholarship in minority health and health disparities.
Accepted abstracts that were submitted by students identified as the first author on the Abstract Submission Form, will be considered for the Student Poster Competition. All entrants must be enrolled in an accredited program and/or institution and designated as a student at the time of submission. Students are defined as undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral. Level of enrollment must be indicated at the time of abstract submission. Student entrants must be the first author on the work and abstract submissions must follow the Abstract Submission Guidelines.
All entrants must adhere to the poster presentation guidelines specifically defined for the 2014 Conference.
A panel of judges will be assigned at random to review the student poster presentations onsite. Each poster will be assigned a minimum of two (2) judges.
Student presenters are expected to explain the purpose, methods, findings, and importance of their work in easily understandable terms and should be able to provide an oral overview (approximately 5 minutes) of their projects.
First, second, and third place awards will be given to students within each of the undergraduate, master's, doctoral, post-doctoral categories. In addition, “honorable mention” within each conference track will be given.
